Common Queries

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

I do not offer a sliding scale, but there is a scholarship program available for clients experiencing financial hardship that would otherwise prevent them from accessing services.

By participating in services with Foster Parent Therapy, you are supporting scholarship opportunities for individuals experiencing financial barriers.

How does online therapy work?

Sessions are 50 minutes long for individuals and 80 minutes long for joint or extended sessions, and take place via SimplePractice, a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform.

I do not record any sessions, and I conduct sessions from my office in a confidential space. All services and logistics are provided online through this website and SimplePractice.

Can you provide therapy to my foster or adopted child?

Unfortunately, I am not currently accepting child clients.

If your child is over the age of 18, I warmly welcome them and encourage them to participate in a consultation.

I cannot offer individual therapy to more than one person in a family system.

If you are requesting joint therapy to support co-parenting, each participant will need to complete individual no-fee consultations prior to being accepted as joint clients.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance, and I am not an in-network provider for any insurance or managed care plan.

Some Health Savings Account (HSA) plans allow for reimbursement for therapy services. Please consult with your provider to see if you may be eligible.

I will provide a detailed invoice at your request that you may distribute to any third party of your choosing for purposes of reimbursement.

I live outside of California - can I still receive services?

Unfortunately, I only offer services to California residents as my licensure is through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Arrangements will be made on an individual basis for existing clients who subsequently move out-of-state.

How much will this cost?

$100 per 50 minute session (Standard for individual therapy)

$150 per 80 minute session (Standard for joint therapy)

$50 per 50 minute session for scholarship program recipients

Fees also apply for some additional services such as record requests, documentation/letter writing requests, or non-therapeutic consultation.
